Are you a curious, open-minded, free spirit? Are you looking for a yoga teacher training that honors your uniqueness, encouraging you to explore all aspects of yoga and meditation and to develop your own style? Do you want to join a supportive tribe of like-minded explorers?
Bhavana School of Yoga is your tribe! We're non-dogmatic and open-minded, and we embrace the beautiful differences between people. We encourage everyone to enjoy their own practices, to follow the call of what they truly love. Whether you're looking to become a yoga teacher, or simply to deepen your own practice, we welcome you to go on this adventure with us.
At Bhavana Yoga, a Luminous School of Yoga, we honor every student’s unique path. We strive to cultivate what is in the essential nature of every individual, so that they feel ready to express yoga in the world in their own way. We seek to create a tribe of explorers and lovers of life, who are not bound by dogma and who are constantly curious. We see ourselves as guides, who share freely of the knowledge we have acquired, and we see students as their own best teachers. To that end, we are dedicated to a yoga school that is authentic, supportive and full of integrity. We want our students to feel completely prepared as they step forward into the world to share yoga with others. We encourage students to savor yoga, spending time with each practice and discovering its effects for themselves. We know that enjoyment is central to the benefits of yoga and meditation, and we encourage students to shamelessly enjoy their practices and their lives.
We’re non-dogmatic, open-minded lovers of yoga. We don’t believe in authority-based answers or the blind following of a lineage. Instead, we encourage each person to explore and discover for themselves. We’ll offer you the knowledge that we’ve gathered over our many years of study and experience, but we’ll always encourage you to come back to your best teacher for answers: yourself.
There are as many ways to share yoga in the world as there are people! We have no interest in creating carbon copies of ourselves. We want to see you blossom in the world in your own way, whatever that might mean to you. We will guide and encourage you as you explore what sharing yoga might mean to you (whether that’s teaching yoga classes or not), and we’ll be your cheerleaders as you venture forth.
Dr. Patti Shelton, MD, E-RYT 200, RPYT, RCYT, YACEP
I'm deeply immersed in the study of the human body. My background is in Neuroscience and Medicine. I studied for many years at the University of Washington, receiving a Bachelor's in Neurobiology and then a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree. I'm also the author of the book The Yoga Doctor, through which I offer some of the knowledge I've gained to those who desire to practice yoga in a sustainable way.
I have found that the study of the human body can be a gateway into meditation and deeper contemplation. We're wonderfully complex creatures, full of mysteries. To appreciate this fully is to experience the same sense of wonder that a sunset or an ocean can evoke. I will offer you my knowledge, in the spirit of wonder. You contain universes within yourself; would you like to dive in?
I believe that our embodiment is a gift. I did my first yoga teacher training with former Buddhist monk Seongyoon Lee of Yoon's Yoga Bliss, and then became certified to teach yoga with Ali Valdez of Sattva Yoga. I've also become certified to teach yoga to kids with Liz Doyle of Little Friends Yoga, and to pregnant women and new mothers with Anne Phyfe Palmer of 8 Limbs Yoga. I’ve also completed two multi-year programs, studying meditation (including techniques for teaching meditation classes, small groups, and private meditation coaching sessions), with Dr. Lorin Roche and Camille Maurine, both celebrated authors and meditation guides. Through all of these practices, I unite body, mind, and spirit into the unified flow of life.
I love human connection. My 9-year-old daughter and my 12-year-old son continually teach me more about curiosity and wonder. My relationships encourage me to dive in to that web of connection that unites us all. I frequently collaborate on retreats worldwide; I love to see what happens when people come together to unite their passions and experience into a new creation.
I celebrate life! You too? Let's explore together.
Jennifer Andrews, MA, E-RYT 500, YACEP
Jenn Andrews, M.A. is the founder of Yoga Sol in Carson City, Nevada. She has been studying yoga for almost twenty years now and was a yoga studio owner for over 5 years. In 2018, Jenn branched out worldwide to teach yoga and meditation both domestically and internationally.
Jenn Andrews has been studying Meditation Secrets for Women and Radiance Pranava Meditation for years with her teachers, Camille Maurine and Dr. Lorin Roche. She has been certified under their teachings and guidance and is faculty for both Meditation Secrets for Women and The Radiance Sutras Meditation Teacher Training.
As a meditation and yoga teacher Jenn is committed to developing a meditation practice that suits the needs of every individual student. Meditation and yoga are not a one-size fits all practices! In fact there are hundreds of techniques for meditating and so it could be a bit overwhelming to know which one is right for you. It is our philosophy that meditation should feel natural to you and that the essence of meditation is simple: What YOU love becomes the basis, the starting point and the foundation for your personal practice. Radiance Pranava Meditation is an instinctual style of meditation that embraces and accepts your unique desires and longing for the richness of life. Here, we are on a path of intimacy and our meditation is our loving attention to the Self.

"The atmosphere is so calming. My brain never stops, but when I went to the Friday night meditation I was able to block out the street noise and concentrate. Jennifer, the instructor, was attentive to my concerns after the practice too. Will definitely keep attending the practices." -Casey, Nevada
"Dr. Patti shares her gifts through her very heart and soul. Respected, accomplished, published, author, specialty certified, holistic doctor who is genuinely caring; however, she is too humble and unassuming to share that with others herself. When she teaches yoga, anatomy, myofascial balance, or Areuvedic health you know she lives it like she teaches it. Ask her a question during class, she savors it, contemplates it, becomes an adventurous student again, right before your eyes, before she lovingly shares her wisdom for your consideration. THAT is how life affirming learning experiences come about." -Mike, Kirkland, WA
"Jennifer’s approach to Meditation has change the way I see the world. People, places, and my view of the world have become more ALIVE than I ever thought possible. Her passion for helping others find their balance through meditation is clearly evident in her classes. I would highly recommend anyone looking to get in tune with themselves and their own world to take classes with Jennifer." -Jami, Verdi, NV
"Patti's wealth of information and sincere desire to share that knowledge was above and beyond what I could have anticipated. Furthermore, I was continually impressed with her dedication to separating traditional beliefs from science, while still showing respect for both." -PJ, Olympia, WA
"Thank you so, so, so much! I’m so grateful for you and the wisdom you harness!!!" -Devon, Olympia, WA
"Thank you so much for the training - it was absolutely PHENOMENAL and I hope to see you in a training or a class again!" -Julie, Olympia, WA
