Ahoo first became certified in 2008, after a decade of yoga practice. She mostly teaches Yin, Restorative and Meditation, and much of her training is focused in this area. She is a Trauma Sensitive Yoga instructor, trained under David Emerson of the JRI in Massachusetts. She has trained and worked under Kripalu senior instructors and Shamans in meditation, mindfulness and energy work. Currently, she is obtaining her Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction certification through the Atlanta Mindfulness Institute. Her focus is on the healing and transformative qualities of yoga, and she brings these into each of her classes.
April has dedicated herself to the practice, study, and teachings of yoga since discovering its joys and benefits in 1999. Throughout her journey, her love of yoga has meandered, strengthened, and deepened. She is trained in aligned-based yoga; however she enjoys practicing and teaching various types of yoga, including vinyasa flow, hatha, yin and restorative. In addition to completing her 200 hours of yoga teacher training; she has also completed 60+ hours in trauma-sensitive yoga teacher training. The basis of her teaching philosophy is that yoga is a process of self-discovery and varies from person to person. Yoga will meet you wherever you are in your particular life’s journey.
