Ashby Drake is an E-RYT 500 yoga instructor with over 10 years of teaching experience and 15+ years of personal practice. She discovered yoga as a hyperactive young girl struggling with focus, anxiety, and depression. Yoga became her anchor, helping her quiet her mind, find clarity, and truly embrace the present moment. Inspired by this transformation, she set out to share the practice with others facing similar challenges.
After years of teaching at studios that emphasized rigid routines or weren’t in support of teachers branching out/teaching any sort of specialized sequences, Ashby sought a more creative approach. She began incorporating diverse practices like breathwork, guided meditations, and intentional sequences tailored to her students’ needs. The results were profound—students reported improved focus, creativity, and emotional well-being, with some overcoming severe anxiety and depression. This reinforced her belief in the power of a flexible and intentional yoga practice, far removed from the watered-down methods often seen in the West.
In 2024, Ashby opened Satorii Yoga + Wellness in West Los Angeles, CA. Her intention for the space is to foster growth and connection, encouraging both teachers and students to explore, build relationships with like-minded people, and relinquish limiting beliefs. She believes that cultivating fluidity and adaptability in practice leads to greater freedom and vitality in daily life.
